Maui
I recently traveled to Maui with 51 members of my family for a vacation. Though it was a long journey, it was well worth it once we arrived. Having such a large group, we had to search long and hard to find accommodations that would suit all age ranges. We stayed at the Ho'olei condos in the Wailea are of Maui. These condos were nothing less than spectacular and exceeded all expectations that I had. Each condo had breathtaking views and a unique layout, so no two condos were the same. Each condo also featured a full kitchen, washer, dryer, and three bathrooms and bedrooms.
The Ho'olei is located in the prime location of the Wailea area. There are numerous activities for all age ranges that are within walking distance of the accommodations. The Ho'olei is a property of the Grande Wailea Hotel, which is located directly across the street. The beach is located at the Grande Wailea Hote, as well as several activity pools. The hang out place for the kids was the pool that featured a water elevator and waterslides, whereas the adults hung out at the swim-up bar. We also found ourselves in the activity pool competing in family volleyball and basketball games. There were also several activities to participate in at the beach. You could rent kayaks, surf boards, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment. I also saw people taking scuba diving lessons, which was entertaining to watch. The shops of Wailea and numerous golf courses were within walking distance to our location. Having so many people in our group, not everyone happened to be beach-goers, so it was nice to have the option of other activities so close by. Out of all the places I have been, Maui by far offered the most to do for a variety of age ranges. I saw everyone from infants to upper-70's thoroughly enjoying themselves.
At night there were several activities to do right within walking distance. We attended a Luau on the Grande Wailea's property. This particular Luau had amazing authentic Hawaiian food and featured a fire dancer who was a national champion. At night it was nice to walk along the boardwalk of the Wailea area where numerous restaurants with picture-perfect views were located.
Even thought we stayed around the Wailea, we did not limit ourselves to strictly this area. The Kaanapali and Lahaina areas were within 45 minutes from us and the drive was all coastal, making the trip enjoyable and picturesque. I would definitely recommend the volcano bike ride tour and the zip lining excursion. Both were located in the Kaanapali area and were definitely worth the day-long trip.
I would highly recommend taking a vacation to Maui and staying in the Wailea area. It is a great area for a family vacation, honeymoon, or just a tropical getaway. Maui offers so much to do for a variety of age ranges and occasions. The culture and scenery of the island are by far my favorite.
