US Virgin Islands
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
The U.S. Virgin Islands has three main islands: St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix.
St. Thomas, the most cosmopolitan of the U. S. Virgin Islands, offers renowned duty-free shopping, gorgeous beaches, championship golf and non-stop nightlife. Take the Skyride 700 feet above the city or climb the famous 99 steps of Charlotte Amalie for an incomparable view of the Caribbean. St. Thomas is small enough to maneuver easily, but large enough to have one of the top ten beaches in the world-Magens Bay.
St. Croix is a less hectic version of St. Thomas with a lot of history. There are two main towns in St. Croix, the largest island: Christiansted and Frederiksted both named after Danish kings. Outside of the towns are some wonderful beaches. We recommend Cane Bay for snorkeling, diving, shelling, and windsurfing.
St. John is the most scenic and unspoiled of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is mountainous like St. Thomas. 2/3 of the island is a national park. The main reason to stay in St. John is to enjoy the scenery and relax. Trunk Bay, one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, has a snorkeling trail that is worth seeing!
